I cannot say enough good things about the team at FD Building. From our first meeting with Jason and Mike, I could tell they actually cared about our project. Unfortunately, living in the Hamptons, that type of personal touch is rare. Most companies out here act like they’re doing you a favor by simply showing up. Not the guys at FD. Our project manager, AJ Salerno, was amazing. He was constantly on top of all aspects of the renovation. I always felt like our project was his top priority. That type of reassurance meant a lot to us. These guys are real professionals. We are really so pleased with our home. I highly recommended FD Building. And if you still need some convincing, just look at our kitchen before and after.
Found FD Building randomly through an old mailed advertisement. Read some reviews and gave them call. I’m so thankful I made that decision. I was somewhat overwhelmed with the scope of what I needed done since it involved the whole house, but they were incredibly patient and helpful throughout the process. Eddie was better than the architect who drew my plans at understanding what I wanted and helping to bring that to life. He caught issues before they happened and proposed great ideas to correct them (Thank you for being so patient with me 🙏🏼). AJ as the project manager has been nothing but awesome. He goes out of his way to help with most anything. He kept the site clean (my neighbors loved him), and he was always up front about the cost of things when unforeseen damage was uncovered. He didn’t cut corners and I have confidence in the work that was done because of him. The people he brought in did a great job, especially Julian with the tile and Dan with the electric! The office staff at FD are incredibly nice too. Lacey was always pleasant and helpful. Melanie was very responsive with my requests on the financial end. I have to give credit to Mike, who owns FD. You’ve got an incredible staff, which speaks volumes about you. I would highly recommend this company to anybody looking to get any type of work done on their house.
I worked with FD Building on my house on the east end of long island after there was major flood damage. Jim Rice was the project manager and he was super responsive, and patient with my many questions. Once work began, there was steady progress (faster than I imagined it would be)! I felt like I could text and ask any question and Jim was always very responsive which is helpful when youre a first time home renovator! The project included complete overhaul of the kitchen, 3 bathrooms, and finishing the basement! The folks at FD (from Jason in sales, to Laci in accounting and Jim the project manager) are all progressional, organized, and responsive. I would recommend them to a friend for sure and will have them at the top of the list if I want to renovate again.
If I could give the entire FD team more than 5 stars I would. To say we were beyond impressed with each and every one of them, is an understatement. We've renovated two homes now and the night and day difference it makes working with a good GC can truly make or break a project and FD made our project a dream process and project. Don't look any further - just hire them. The star of the show was George, who was truly what every GC should aspire to be. He is knowledgeable, incredibly on top of it, attentive to detail, communicative, responsive, and proactive. I like to think I can think through various scenarios having been in the architecture industry for years. But he brings it to a whole other level. I only know 10% of what he saw and fixed ahead of time or on the spot. He was so incredibly organized, held his crews to the highest quality standards and always communicated anything going on that needed my assistance. He kept things moving at a pace that I didn't know was possible. Meaning, only 2 weeks behind the initial proposed schedule for a renovation of a 800-sqft house and 1200-sqft addition. And the delay was only because of weather completely out of his control. And to him, the 2 weeks was unacceptable. Let me tell you this, that is almost unheard of. To have a GC this on top of it that can get crews scheduled, actually show up, do an incredible job with the quality of work, and to work with so many moving pieces is truly a rare find. Mike, the owner, is involved, friendly, knowledgeable, aware of ongoings and has built an incredible team. Jason worked closely with us for a month or two in the early stages while we were bidding the project. He far surpassed any other contractor we were working with to get the project bid. His attention to every detail in the bid was close to perfect. Cherrice did a top notch job getting us set up with all the systems, keeping all the specs up to date, and clearly communicating anything she needed from us. And huge thanks to Melanie for communicating so clearly on all accounting needs. A++ service all around. This has all been focused on the people, because they are really what makes the project a success. But I also want to mention our final product (the house) is absolutely gorgeous. Like I said, they renovated an existing 800 sqft home (meaning stripped down to the studs - literally just a stick frame), reorganized the entire home, and added on 12,000 sqft and it's top notch quality and absolutely beautiful. Cannot recommend enough.
From the time we had Jason look at our old kitchen to the time we had a completed project, we found everyone at FD Building to be timely, neat, and responsive. If you had a question, someone always got back to you quickly. Jason gave us a detailed estimate for our project, Laci kept us informed about the schedule and paperwork, Melanie answered all sorts of questions about costs and payments, and Anthony (AJ) directed every aspect of our renovation. While we were away, AJ sent photos of the daily progress, he supervised the plumbers, carpenters, electrician, tile installers always insisting on the highest quality work. His goal was for us to love our new kitchen and we do. You can depend on FD Building to treat you fairly, honestly, and to keep in touch regularly. We've renovated 4 baths and a kitchen prior to this one, but this has been the easiest and most pleasant experience we've ever had.
